Geography and Biology Field Study Trips

Cuskinny Court is Cork’s leading Eco Adventure Centre. Located on the grounds of a 300 year old, family owned private estate, on Cork Harbour we are perfectly situated to satisfy all the requirements of the Geographical Investigation and Geographical and Biology Field Trips for Leaving Certificate and Junior Certificate classes. Just 20 minutes from Cork City, Cuskinny is accessible by Train or Bus.

Our specially designed educational programmes are totally ‘hands on’. We encourage every student to enjoy the adventure of field studies. Cuskinny Field Studies enable students to see geography and biology in their true and practical setting. We are now inviting bookings for all field trips:

Our Field Trips cover the following topics:

  • Leaving Cert 2016: A study of the geomorphic processes of transportation and deposition in a fluvial or coastal or glaciated environment; An investigation of the impact of human activity on the geomorphic processes in a fluvial or coastal or glaciated environment.
  • Junior Cert field trips: Geomorphic processes in a coastal environment; Geomorphic processes in a glaciated environment; Limestone landscapes or a study of limestone caves; Customised field trips.
  • Biology field trips: Customised field trips are also available for both leaving certificate and junior Certificate levels including coastal, marsh and woodland habitats.

Delivered as a full-day programme, our course guides students to all of the Primary Source Information required for the Leaving Certificate and Junior Certificate. Students are provided with worksheets that open their minds to the fascinating area of collecting and collating data. Preparatory and follow-up sessions are available to teachers if required. Overnight accommodation is available for groups of up to 40 students.

A second one day workshop course is available for schools that wish for help and guidance towards the assessing and usage of appropriate Secondary Sources (book, journals, websites, etc.) Our instructor’s are experienced Geography & Biology teachers with a tremendous enthusiasm for their subject. They work with each teacher to develop a customised programme for each group.
